The DSAuk gets back to Activity
Since the change in the Covid restrictions the DSAuk has wasted no time getting back to activity. The first event we organised was an Outdoor Activities in the Park Day. This was held in Derby with over 70 people attending and taking the opportunity to get together in person for the first time in two years. There was lots to do including outdoor Badminton, Football, Rounders and Mark Taylor from the European Disability Golf Association came along and delivered their EDGA3 training course to give many of the people attending their first taste of golf. The EDGA3 golf taster will be being rolled out across the DSA regions over the next year so more members can try golf out for themselves.
The next National event will be Football training at St Georges Park in Burton on Trent. This is very popular, and we are expecting to see lots of new faces as well as all the members who always enjoy these fantastic training days. This will be the start of our training in preparation for the next World Dwarf Games in 2023.
The DSA regional clubs were soon to follow the Park event with their own local events, The South East and South West regions and Scotland have all organised outdoor picnics with sporty activities to enjoy.
The East Midlands have run a Badminton and Boccia session in Derby and the Noth West have been taking part in Football training at Man City and will soon be holding a click’n’climb session for everyone to enjoy. Northern Ireland have held an outdoor activity day at an outdoor adventure facility with adventurous challenges to take part in and have other events booked soon for our members to enjoy. The West Midlands held a Golf day at Hagley Golf Club run and coached by Ellie Perks and they plan to have more of these Golf sessions over the coming months. The South Central also ran a Picnic in the Park and have a multi-sport event in planning and the North East will be holding an event nearer to Xmas. With Christmas on the horizon some of our regions will be holding Christmas meet ups as a wonderful way to meet up and celebrate all that is great about the DSA.
So, as you can see it’s all go at the DSA with lots to help us all get back to being active enjoying some sport and take the opportunity to get together and see each other in person.
