Congratulations to Olivia Broome for being selected to take part in the 2019 Fazza 2019 World Para Powerlifting World Cup which will be held in Dubai.
The competition held by World Para Powerlifting is a Tokyo 2020 qualifier and will take place between 5-14 February 2019.
Olivia along with the other athletes attending all have the ambition to represent Great Britain at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Good Luck!
British Weight Lifting said we are pleased to announce the team selected to attend the Fazza 2019 World Para Powerlifting World Cup which will be held in Dubai.
The competition held by World Para Powerlifting is also a Tokyo 2020 qualifier and will take place between 5-14 February.
The team selected is as follows:
Micky Yule – Men’s 80kg
Louise Sugden – Women’s 86kg
Olivia Broome – Women’s 50kg
The team have been selected based on recent performances and development trajectories indicative of challenging for or improving top 8 Tokyo qualification rankings. All three athletes have the ambition to represent Great Britain at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

“This is a great opportunity at the beginning of a crucial year and crucial string of events leading up to the worlds championships in July to establish strong and robust top 8 rankings. The team selected reflects the high global standards and therefore the phenomenal progress these athletes have made in 2018 to secure representation for their country. We can’t wait to see what the achieve next year and it starts in Dubai.
A number of competitions will follow this competition including the Hungarian World Cup in Eger (April) and the senior and junior championships in Astana, KAZ (July) and the Tokyo test event in Japan (September).
